IIIIIIIIIIITTTTT"S Blog Time! It's been a while huh? So...Donoma had an awesome three days of shows last weekend! Swing State Thursday, The Gallery Cabaret Friday, The Brat Stop Saturday...woo hoo! Our semi-mini tour. No...not really. But I had a lot of fun doin' what I love to do for three days straight!

I've really been tryin' to draw portfolio lately. I just can't seem to grasp it :( I guess I'll just have to keep trying. Practice makes perfect right?

I'm just about to watch our friends Richard Cranium do their interview on J Street Radio. Excite!

And how about the weather?!!!! YAY!!! Spring is coming. Survived another winter! Although I must say that this winter was not so bad...at least compared to the last one. I got bit by my first mosquito and pathetic enough I'm thrilled! Haha. I'm not a winter person. And I went for a hike with my friends in the woods...climbed a tree, jumped over streams, and pulled a tick out of my dog. Ewwww! But beautiful!

Till Next Time,
      xoxoxox
            Steph

Where Is My Mind?

Hey! Long time no bloggin' to ya!

Latest update: Minimal talking for a whole THREE WEEKS!!!!

It's day number two, and i am drastically failing. I need lessons on how to shut up! I think they usually teach you that in school...I must have not been paying attention.

So I guess the deal is when I got sick over X-mas time for that two weeks and severely lost my voice and had the worst throat pain of my life and I have never recovered. But that makes sense because we were playing shows every week regardless. Stupid. So my doctor put me on antibiotics and told me try to not talk for three weeks and no playing shows. Only thing is we have one set up at the Burgundy Room this Saturday!!! EEEK! We're still going on with the show though. I just have to behave myself :)

And I also learned yesterday, the raw truth about not having insurance. The doctor visit alone was $100, then there's the lab they have to run to test for strep, and the pills. What if this was a much worse condition? It's ridiculous! I'm lucky to have such great people in my life to help me when I'm in trouble. Thank you!

So there you have it. Enjoy my lack of talking for the next three weeks cuz when i'm comin' back, I'm back baby!

I'm excited for tomorrow because I'm supposed to get my tattoo started for real! Let's hope it doesn't get screwed up again. Because this tattoo is going to be the coolest ever! I'd like to say anyway.

I've been getting more comfortable with belly dancing in front of people. My very first performance was a few weeks ago at the Hattrix show. I have never been so nervous!!! I thought I would puke.

I'm going to go practice!!!

Love Love Love
Stephanie

Oh, Charlie Brown!

Hello Blog readers. It's been a while huh? The last time I wrote I was in a glass case of emotion a month ago. Today...I'm in a glass case of REALLY EXCITED THAT LAST NIGHT WENT SO WELL! I believe we have played our biggest show yet! We took a trip to Madison to play on Red Dragon T.V. where you play in a room in front of a camera, live on the web, for hundreds of people. We eventually had over 600 viewers , probably 2 or more to a computer...you add that up and that's a lot of people! Of course, for Donoma, nothing turns out to be a simple 2 hour drive to go play a show.

So the plan was, take the hundreds of flyers that we have, leave at 10 to get up there by noon, go to the campus and such handing out flyers, then play a small acoustic set to encourage people to come or watch on the internet, grab some lunch and get to the place at 4:30 for set up time to be on air by 7. Reasonable plan. We're Donoma, so of course we're running at least an hour late...no big deal, there's plenty of time to stop at the gas station, fill up our tires and our tanks, grab some breakfast (for me it was french fries) and get on the road ( Oh, not to mention that we played a show last night where our guitar strings and bass drum head had been broken). So we have to drive a bit out of the way to make a quick stop at the music store. Then we get on the highway and everythings goin' smooth. We split amongst ourselves (Izz and I in the van, Shelle, Brian and Bob in the Jeep). Israel had just inherited a van from a family member so we named him Charlie Brown and called him our band van. This is the first real trip we had made with Charlie Brown. We had taken him to the Penny Road Pub, which was sorta a hike, but nothing too bad. Actually, Madison isn't that much of a hike either really. We were so excited!!! We had just got this van recently mind you. Paid plenty to get the title and the plates, bought curtain hangers, made our ouwn curtains, and installed them. The van was awesome. It was so awesome, Shelle and Brian couldn't even wait for a band tour to sleep in it so they slept in it in my driveway! Silly monkeys :)

A bit over an hour into our trip (everything's finally going smoothly) Israel and I hear a loud rattling noise. So we pull over, popped the hood and it smells aweful and smoking (I know nothing about cars except for what color they are). All I could think about is the irony of how a few weeks ago our friends who are also from Kenosha were supposed to play on Red Dragon and thier van broke down so they couldn't make it. After hours of trying to jump it on the freeway (that was an adrenaline rush) we only got it to move half a mile before it was done for. Getting it towed somewhere wasn't the problem, but what about all of our equipment!?! Long story semi-short, thanks to the help of our friends and family we were able to make it to the show. And I'd say we had a kick ass time and a lot of good comments. Thanks you to all of you who supported us that night.

Love Love Love,

Stephanie

oh charlie brown, even though you weren't with us long, how I miss you so.

Shelle - Donoma

Blah, Blah, Blah

"I'm in a glass box of emotion!" (A bit of the movie Anchorman for you) But really, that's how I feel right now. Wicked fun weekend of Costumes, Music, and Drunks! My Favorite! I love Halloween. Best time of the year I'd say, and so do a lot of people so I guess that means that it must be one of the coolest holidays out there. (Yes, perhaps that means that I am a conformist. That or I like to wear costumes, play music and get drunk...I guess I could do both) There was such great energy, I don't even know where to begin. Oh wait, Thursday...that's where I begin. And this is not including all the weeknights driving forty-five minutes to go practice (after working), staying up until 3 in the morning, driving 45 minutes back again, only to get up in a couple hours and start the process over to prep for the weekend.

But like I said, starting Thursday... Thursday night we took a trip out to a haunted house. i was riding every ones ass because I haven't done anything Halloweeny, and Halloween was coming up in 2 days!!! AHHHH! We were told about this haunted house that was an hour drive away but ranked #1 in Illinois and #2 in the country. Pretty sweet huh? It was even on the travel channel, because of this houses unique way of haunting (duhn duhn duhn.....) Not only is this house supposed to look gory, it smells like it looks. Again with the procrastination (but hey, at least im consistant) we said we'd leave at 6 30 but didnt leave 'till 9 and with doors closing at 10 we JUST made it as the last line of people. I was a bit disappointed I'd say. I smelt no blood or guts and it only scared me a bit, but I'll go easy on them because it was a weekday and we were late. I had fun though.

Friday. What did we do Friday. Oh yeah, we played down in Chicago for the freak gala spook fest. We were the first ones on but I think it went quite well actually. There were people movin' and groovin' and lets not forget, Time Warping!!!! We dressed as Rocky Horror Picture Show and played Time Warp for the first time. We rock. Iz makes a great Eddie, Shelle does Columbia with perfection, and Brian....don't even get me started. I've never seen a better Dr. Frank-N-Furter impersonator in my life! Brian, you walk better in heals that me and look way sexier in nylons and garter belts than I ever could. You bitch! :) I was Magenta, and of course, up walks another Magenta (but don't worry, there's only room for one Magenta so I'm sure you can guess how that ended)...

I lost. She had REAL hair....not a stupid fake wig that looks nothing like the characters even though it is an actual Magenta wig. Shame. But I like to tell the story with a different ending. I blasted her.

Saturday we played a private party, but it's private so I'm not going to talk about it, just know you wish you could have been there. hahaha!

Then Sunday we jamed out on the Martigras stage at Six Flags Great America with Richard Cranium and Eye(S). AMAZING TIME!!!! I love them guys! After words we got to Rage on the Bull and take on a few haunted houses! yeah yeah.

Monday comes around and you think that you could finally get some rest, but we got invited last minute to a birthday party we couldn't refuse. It's was a 50's 60's dress up party! That was so much fun. Especially the part where I almost got bit by the dog that lives there.

Yay Tuesday!!!! Rest after work. Just kidding. At 7 I went to see my little sis play here first concert with the flute. I'm so proud of her. (and you'll be blasted for real if I get any smart ass comments about band camp) Then on our way home we stopped at our friends house. We were supposed to stay for 10 minutes (hahaha) more like 5/6 hours. But I can't complain 'cuz that was fun too.

So here we are, Wednesday, and I'm sad 'cuz our friends are leaveing for Colorado tomorrow so we are going to say our goodbyes tonight. I'm glad for them though. They're not stuck here in Kenowhere with the rest of us. There doing something and that's inspiring that they had the guts to do it for real. Yay you guys!

So I just realized how long this blog is blah blah blah. I haven't even begun what I really wanted to say but for the sakes of all you precious'es I shall save it for another day. Just know that I had a reminder today of how sick the human kind is and it's sad ;( those are not tears of joy. And yet they are 'cuz people are great and I had a great weekend/weekdays , that are actually not over with!

So... 'Till next time strangers!

xoxoxox Stephanie

It's only 7:40 at night, and every one's tired and hungover from the Feedback show we played yesterday. (You're not having a good time unless you wake up with a pounding headache, and a sour stomach.) I think the show went pretty well. I didn't pay enough attention to find out who won for selling the most tickets though. I've just been kickin' back playin' video games and watchin' movies. Land of the Lost...I must recommend it. I though it was hilarious, but I can't get sick of Will Farrell. And now, I'm off to go watch this movie called Splinter. It's supposedly a really good horror film. I'll let you know after I watch it.......here I go,

Okay, Splinter...not so bad. I jumped quite a few times so I'd say it's worth watching. I love horror films but it's hard to find people to watch them with. Not neccessarily because people can't handle scary, just that alot of people would rather watch a good action film. As for me, give me a horror film, as cheesy as you can get it! :) We finally spend a full day in the studio trying to get our album finished. (We didn't) I think the best part of being in the studio is having that freedom to manipulate the song in anyway. There are so many things you can add to the song because you have the chance to layer. And it makes it so much easier to add different ideas to the song because you can step back and listen to it from a different perspective. Prit-Tea Koo-EL! We played a show at the nook the other night. To be honest I didn't think there would be that great of a turn out but there actually was! I'm excited. And thank you to the fans who purchased our T-shirts, CD's, and for the donations. I can't express how much help that gives us. I think I'm still in the hole so far from just my own pocket for being in the band. Not that it's a bad thing. I have my day job like I've expressed in my first blog. But it costs alot to get a band going. Money to make T-shirts, CD's, Stickers, Lighters, gas money, Equipment, you name it, and even one dollar is extremely appreciated. Makes me feel like people care :) I still haven't set up any solo acts. (I'm a guilty procrastinator) But you know how that goes... So I've been thinking about setting up a twitter account. I don't know much about it. Actually, I don't really know anything about it but I keep hearing that there are bands that use twitter. For all you twitter users, I was just wondering if it is worth it to get one. (Band wise, 'cuz I'm not much of a personal account user) But I'd love to hear your feedback on it. Spank you and have a good night!

Stephanie

Those Who Can't Speak ... Write

So this is day number five I believe that i have had no voice. I've lost my voice and haven't found it since Thursday, which perhaps to most is the greatest thing ever. As for me, well do I have to say it, it SUCKS!!! lol. Especially seeing how the band has been trying to find time to all go together to the studio and finish up our album (which we have scheduled tomorrow finally) and I can't speak, let alone sing. Oh well, life goes on.

But Saturday we had a show outside at the Twilight Market. Maybe you've heard of it. It's this really awesome thing where they shut down 6th Ave. in Kenosha Wisconsin and set up stands and have bands playing outside. Too bad the weather has been so crappy lately though. I believe it was a high of 28 that night. bbbbrrrrr was that cold! Can I get an AMEN to the fact that we were told that we were the only band to stick it out. I had a blast though. The only shitty thing was that it was so difficult to sing. Although there wasn't too many people due to the cold, there were still a few passer-by's. Oh, not to mention A GUY VIDEO TAPING THE EVENT AND OUR BAND! haha. oh man. But luckly enough we had our good friends there (Richard Cranium and Todd/No One Solider) to step in, and all in all, it turned out to be a great night. I even got to meet Captain Jack Sparrow and explain to him how it was I who drank all his rum.

I have realized that a crap load of my clutter is from my song writing. Not that there is an abundance of never ending songs, but that I can't seem to be satisfied with writing down my songs only once. I happen to write it at the very least 10-13 times, oh, and not to mention they are all written in multiple places. The blue notebook, the red one, a napkin, computer paper, loose sheet of notebook paper, the black note book, the black notebook again... so I have decided to put my computer to use and save all of my lyrics and stuff in here. That way I can finally get rid of the endless amount of scattered paper and notebooks everywhere. I hope this helps. But you know, I just can't help thinking, what if something happens to my computer? That means that something will happen to my songs, so I should probably keep some papers lying around...and thats how it gets started. (Or, in my case, how it never gets finished.) So, it's back to typing lyrics for me!

Hopefully I will have my voice back soon and FINALLY finish this album! Wouldn't that be nice :)

Love, Love, and Love, Stephanie

Initial Post

I've been all talk no action in starting to write blogs, and get all little more personal with everyone who comes to visit our myspace page. I have time now since works been a bit slow. In case you haven't heard, us "rockstars" are still working day jobs :) And in my case, I scrub toilets. Yep...toilets. But I'd have to say that cleaning houses is a great job, at least if you compare it to most. My day starts at 8am and I'm usually finished by 3pm at the latest. Not bad huh? It's great because it gives me more time to work on the things I love...like playing music!!! Unfortunaly though, I've been losing a whole lot of work lately. Mostly do to the fact that the economy sucks and when people have to cut back on thier budget, well...the house cleaner is unnecessary and the first to go. (But how could you ever survive with out a sparkling clean toilet and sink?!?!) So rents been a bit bit rough lately. I feel like I've been slacking though. It really hit me about a week ago. I feel like I've just been so busy but then when I look back on my day I ask my self, "What the hell did you really accomplish today Stephanie?" Not that I sit at home after work and stare at the walls, (Even though "nobody can stare at the walls better than I can") I've got to really buckle down and stay focused. That means working harder at making this dream a reality with music. And every body's support has been so amazing! Nothing makes me happier than to play a show, and look out at all the faces actually enjoying it. I can'y even express how much that means to me. So, here is an idea to combine the two. I think, since work is been a little slow with the houses, I'm going to have to pick up the slack with doing something I actually enjoy, playing music for all you fine people. I'm going to start picking up a few solo acts (not to worry, the full band is the most important to me), just to make a few buck and cut rent. You know, a coffee shop here, a resturaunt there. I think that it would be great because I would be working with something I LOVE doing, get better at what I'm doing because I will be doing it more, and of course making a few extra bucks would be nice as well. So there you have it, problem solved. Now comes the part where I need to stop talking about it, and take action. This concludes my very first blog, YIPPY!!! There, doesnt that just feel so good :)
