Donoma: Our Life

Donoma: (doh.no.mah) A sight of the sun. A collaboration of four artists grouped together to form a band called Donoma. Musically based from many backgrounds from Jam, psychedelic, punk, metal, classical, electro, and folk they bring a new concept style of sounds and lyrics. Based in a basement inside the belly of Kenosha Wisconsin, they try to find new and unique ways to bring their ideas to the table of their creative circle. The members of Donoma consist of Stephanie Vogt, Brian Sandberg, Shelle Mounce and Israel Alpizar. They got together throughout spring and fall of 2008 with the guidance of Stephanie's previously constructed songs. They made their first debut at the Chicago Peace Fest of '08 with a different member that shortly quit the band leaving Steph, Israel and Shelle to continue their work. After various shows their high school friend, Brian joined the band to bring a whole new taste that completed their circle of creative expression. With their variety of backgrounds, Donoma mixes many genres together to establish their style and form as a unique and experimental sound that is composed by each member's input. Like their sound their lyrics are also composed and written by all members separately and sometimes as a group collaboration. The members, besides being strong with their native instrument (Steph with her voice, Brian and his keys, Shelle on her bass, and Israel with the drums) like to switch instruments to show that they are not limited or closed minded to their surroundings. Music being a drive for the group, they are all visual artist as well. Writing scripts, drawing, painting, sculpting, videography, jewelry, knitting and philosophy are some of their many talents and hobbies they take to heart and express themselves with. The Donoma philosophy is to bring people to new perspectives that motivates enlightenment, both for the band and the audience. A peace in mind from a piece of mine ... ... Donoma
